Introduction

The recipe was found on Skinny Taste, a blog by Gina Homolka that focuses on delicious and healthy recipes for all types of diets.

Tuna Egg Salad is a perfect choice for a light and healthy lunch. It is made wich canned tuna, boiled eggs, and onions, so it is both nutritious and easy to prepare.

I chose this dish because I love eggs and wanted to make something using them. Also, since I recently started strength training, I wanted to cook a dish that  is high in protein and quick to prepare.

Tuna Egg Salad meets those conditions!

My experience

The ingredients are two eggs, a canned tuna in water (non-oil), a red onion, mayonnaise, salt, and pepper.

The Ingredients

Red onions were not available at the nearby supermarket, so I used a white onion instead. Since white onions are stronger in flavor than red ones, I soaked them in water for a few minutes to reduce the hot taste.

While boiling the eggs for about 12 minutes to make them hard-boiled, I chopped the white onion and soaked it in water for 2 minutes to reduce its sharpness. Once the eggs were done, I chopped them. Then, I mixed all the ingredients together in a bowl. The whole process took less than 15 minutes.

Review: The Recipe

Because I used a white onion, the final dish lacked color variety and looked a bit plain.

The result

But eggs were creamy and the tuna was flavorful. It was really tasty.
The flaver was well-balanced. The richness of the tuna and eggs matched nicely with the freshness of onion. However, the onion's crunch was a little too strong. Next time, soaking it a bit longer might help creat a smoother texture. Still, it was a  satisfying and convenient dish for lunch.

One of the strengths of this recipe is that it includes a short instructional video. It was only 20 seconds long but clearly showed the ingredients and steps. It was easy to understand.

However, one bad point is that the recipe does not enplain how to make boiled eggs. It just says “boiled eggs” in the ingredients, so I had to check online to figure out how long to boil them and when to start timing. Usually, eggs are boiled for 10-12 minutes after the water begins to boil. Because I prefer hard-boiled eggs with a firm yolk, I chose to boil them for 12 minutes.

So, I think this recipe is very good, but because of that one missing point, I gave it 4 out of 5 stars.

Review: The Post

Another good point was that shows different ways to enjoy the salad. For example, you can eat it wrap in lettuce, or make a sandwich with it. In addition, the recipe shows ideas for changing the taste. For example, you can use yogurt instead of mayonnaise or add mustard. These help you enjoy it if you make too much.

I tried wrapping it in lettuce. It gave a nice fresh taste and looked more colorful too.

Conclusion

This dish is easy to make because you just cut and mix the ingredients.

I learned that it’s easy to make even when I’m busy, and I can enjoy it in different ways like on toast or in a salad. Having a video made the steps and key points clear and easy to follow, which gave me confidence even as a beginner.

So, I gave this post 4.5 out of stars

Tuna has healthy fats , which help lower blood pressure. If you already have boiled eggs and chopped onions ready, you can make this in just one minute-great for busy times. So, the recipe is good for people who do not have much time to cook or want to eat healthy while on a diet. Tuna has omega-3 fatty acids that help burn fat and improve your metabolism. It is low in sugar and makes you feel full.

Next time I make it, I want to try it with red onion.
